Miscellany, 1833 and 1840.

Three documents concerning Milwaukee, Wisconsin, settler George H. Walker: an 1833 receipt from John Gardner and Lewis Benton to McCarty and Walker for payment for tranporting merchandise from Chicago; on the reverse of the receipt, an account of witnessing a meteor shower in Milwaukee, Nov. 12-13, 1833, and the Indians' reaction to it, plus a typed transcription of the account; and a copy in Walker's handwriting of a remonstrance filed by thirteen purchasers of Milwaukee land at Walkers Point, petitioning Congress to reject a bill confirming prior claims to the land, accompanied by a memo from Alice E. Smith explaining the background of the remonstrance.
